20 minutes refused to publish our right of reply.
This article labels us as "anti-trans", and completely misinterprets our thinking. It mischaracterizes our discourse as "essentialist" and associates us with the far right, in an attempt to compromise our reputations rather than respond to our arguments. We are not anti-trans, we are pro-women.
There is nothing transphobic about what we say. In the same way that criticizing Islam is not Islamophobic, criticizing transgender ideology is not transphobic. To be transphobic is to discriminate against or call for the hatred of trans people. This is not our case. To say that women are adult human females is incompatible with essentialism: it is philosophically called materialism. We say that women are females and that there is no distinction between the two. For us the word woman describes sexuation.
The sociologist Emmanuel Beaubatie retorts that our position would be "deeply paradoxical" because "the history of feminist struggles has long been, precisely, that of the liberation from the assignments to biology. However, if transhumanism seeks to be definitively freed from biology, feminism aims at the recognition of women's biological specificities in society and at our capacity to master them.
We do not summarize women to their bodies, but let us say that this body is what allows to define them.
Finally, Emmanuel Beaubatie associates us with the extreme right. However, our widely expressed and assumed positions for the constitutionalization of the right to abortion, for the sharing of domestic tasks, for the recognition of the Shoah, against anti-Semitism, for the reception of refugees, for gay and lesbian marriage are antinomic with this political current.
